A Storm came to town…
Through Lotus Living’s recent new partnership with Melbourne Storm, some members of the team took their first opportunity to take some time out from the current NRL season and visited Yarrawonga. They had already heard all the buzz about Lotus Living’s multi-award-winning The Sebel Yarrawonga and stunning Black Bull Golf Course and couldn’t wait to get up here at their first chance to experience for themselves. And even though they were up there for some recreational activity, they made time whilst on the golf course to also raise some further important funds for a mutual charity both Storm and Lotus support and care deeply about, The Starlight Foundation.
The Melbourne Storm high profile players and key staff included Christian Welch – Captain of the Melbourne Storm, Ryan Papenhuyzen – Fullback, and Jahrome Hughes – Halfback, Matt Tripp – Chairman of Melbourne Storm, Tom Carroll – Owner of Melbourne Storm, all creating a bit of excitement in the town. They had a few rounds at Black Bull Golf Course and stayed at The Sebel Yarrawonga enjoying all the facilities and surrounds.
The playful banter extended way beyond the rugby field on the golf course adding a new dimension of connection between the team where they clearly demonstrated their pretty good golfing skills. It was great they could just chill and relax during their stay.
The team’s decision to also combine their love for golf with a charitable cause showcased their commitment to making a positive impact beyond the rugby field. Both Melbourne Storm and Lotus Living support the Starlight Foundation, a renowned charity dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families. Through their fundraising efforts with a bit of fun on the Black Bull Golf Course along with golf Professional James McCully, the Melbourne Storm players demonstrated their support and compassion for those in need. They not only raised funds to directly help children facing health challenges but also spread awareness about the vital services and support provided by the Starlight Foundation.
Matt Tripp, CEO of Melbourne Storm said, “The weekend was incredible. Everyone involved at the Storm had a wonderful time. Being a local, I was really proud to be able to help showcase what our great town has to offer. The food, service, and overall hospitality at the Sebel was first class. We’re really excited about a long-term partnership with Lotus Living and we look forward to supporting them over the coming years”.
We hope to see more players and staff members again and welcome them back very soon. It’s a real reminder of the power of sports to uplift and unite a community, beyond the boundaries of a stadium and a playing field.
